It has been a whirlwind week filled with cards, gifts, yummies to eat and so much holiday cheer.  The dogs seem to sense everyone’s excitement and have been running around burning off all the extra calories we’ve been eating.  Too bad I can’t say the same for myself.  ;) We’d like to thank all of you for all your generousity! We always really feel the love this time of year.  Merry Christmas everyone!

We took a whole bunch of photos the other day and ideally I’d pair them with some clever dialogue… but then you wouldn’t see them until next week.  So without further ado…

Molly thought she demonstrate how to share the toy.  Or maybe not…

Milo was pretty happy to have an experienced big brother like Charlie here on his first day to show him the ropes.

Charlie was not willing to go so far to share his toy though.

But that was OK, because Milo was sure to go find his own toy!  Don’t worry, I stopped this the moment after I snapped the picture.  :)

Phew.  Finally.  It is done.  Here are the months for the 2012 Paws on the Run Calendar.  I’m so sorry this is so late.  It will probably not be printed in time for Christmas but if you still want one, let me know before Monday as I’ll be putting in an order then!  If you are later than that, they’ll be available on Cafepress as well so you can still get one, but it may cost you a little more.

Please send me an email no later than Monday morning if you are interested in buying a calendar for $20.  This year, the proceeds will be going to Morris Animal Foundation, and specifically to their Canine Cancer Campaign in honour of all the friends we’ve lost over these past few years to this disease.

Ring of Fun 13 To Give Them Credit Lethbridge Dog Daycare

So I emailed Bionic about our lack of success with their bones and they have been nothing but generous.  We’ll be returning this batch of toys and they will be sending out a different shape for us to try out.  They have also asked us to test out some of their stronger and bigger toys that they plan to have ready shortly in the new year.  We know the dogs won’t complain about the “work” we’ll be asking them to do.

As I mentioned in my last post the Toss and Tug toy (aka Frisbee) was a hit though so we will happily sell those to you.  Again, these aren’t meant to be chewed for any length of time but are a toy that you’ll be able to use together with your dog.  My dog Lacey volunteered to show you all how much fun it can be.

Bionic 5 Mixed Review Lethbridge Dog Daycare

We got some new toys today from Bionic.  I’d read some great reviews on these toys and according to their website they have been tested in daycares and kennels and are virtually indestructable.  We have the bone toy and the frisbee.

Bionic 2 Mixed Review Lethbridge Dog DaycareThe bone toy was great in the “small dog” area.  Quite a few different dogs gnawed away on it and they also enjoyed playing fetch with it.  It didn’t fare so well in the “big dog” area however.  After about 30 minutes there were chunks getting torn from it.  The toys are rated up for dogs up to 60 lbs so granted there were some dogs bigger than that playing with it.  I’m sending one off tomorrow for a test with Pasiley – a young standard poodle who love to chew.  She is well under the 60 lbs so we’ll see how she makes out.

The frisbee toy was a lot of fun.  We didn’t leave it around for the dogs to chew on, but they enjoyed fetching it and tugging with it.  I tried it out at the dog park with my dogs and I can confirm it flies pretty good, even in the wind.

We have some for sale for at the daycare if you want to pick one up for a Christmas Gift! (I’ll be sure to give a full run down on how Paisley does with the bone by next week, but I think it is fairly safe to say if you have a 40 lb and under or a moderate chewer, I think it will be just fine.)

Amanda was out the other day with the camera and took some cute photos of the dogs!

Sorry about the lack of daycare news lately.  It will definitely be a New Years Resolution of ours to get back to blogging more regularly!  To be honest we’ve all be huddling inside lately and indoor photos are just never very good!  So instead, I’ll entertain you with outdoor photos from a weekend or two ago…

Rosie’s mom (the pointer with the most brown) was looking after two little cuties the other weekend and I couldn’t resist joining them for a romp in the school grounds. The crazy guy is Finn and the sweet little pup is Bella.

I am totally in love with Finn.  He was wild, crazy and non-stop.  I think we threw the toy twice in the 45 minutes we were out.  He just grabbed hold and ran and ran and ran and ran.

He occasionally stopped, but never for long.

The poor baby was sooo cold.  Look at that pathetic little tail tuck and the lifted paw.  Bella spent most of her time in Mel’s coat and left the running to the big kids.

And run they did.

I think Rosie preferred to be the chaser and not the chasee.  She would get the toy for brief periods but then would usually let Finn win the tug-o-war and the chase would be on again.

Amazingly Finn would always look so serious whenever he stopped.  And he only really stopped if I managed to snag the toy.  Maybe he looked serious because he was worried he wasn’t going to get it back.  ;)

Once he had the toy, he was back to being the wild man he truly is.

The baby finally decided to join in the fun at the end, but it wasn’t for long!

Thanks Mel!  It was fun hanging with a pack of pointers for the afternoon.
