Did you get your hands on one of Windy City Rescue’s 2012 Calendars?  If so, you are already familiar with Lorelei Hoffarth‘s work as she was the woman behind the camera for all of those incredible pictures.  I couldn’t be more pleased to be working with her to bring all of you the ultimate in family sessions.

We are still working out all the finer details (which is why you haven’t heard about this yet!) but Echo’s family contacted us and wanted to get some pictures done before his very first hair cut tomorrow.

And who wouldn’t want to remember this dude all shaggy?

Last night was the second time we “officially” worked together.  I think it went pretty smoothly and I know I got some photos that I love and I’m sure she did too – she always does!  For the most part, Lorelei will be focusing on the people and I’ll be focusing on the dog(s), but there will be some crossover as we catch those moments “in between”.  For example, I think this was the “happy gum dance” right after Armand was promised a piece of gum if he smiled for the camera.  How could I possibly resist?

More information about these sessions will be coming soon.  Very soon.  I promise.

Thanks Beth for bringing your whole wonderful, incredible family out last night.  It was a lot of fun for us, and I hope for all of you as well.  You guys were all naturals.   And I’m glad Echo didn’t get too wet before heading home.

Jolene and I traveled up to Okotoks this weekend for a herding instinct test.  She brought Kort (who I’m happy to say passed) and I brought my camera and Coulee (who I’m happy to say had fun rolling in poop).  It was super interesting to watch all the different breeds and their different styles. Some of the dogs warmed up super quickly to the sheep and to their job, while others took a little coaxing.  I just put a few of my favourite photos below.  If you want to see more, you can see all of them here…

If you are interested in taking part in a future test, you can find out more about events on the Canuck Dogs Website under herding. They are having another one in early June – details can be found here!  Any kind of dog can enter.

Did you notice that I mentioned Mini Sessions in my last blog post?  I’ve been having so much fun meeting up with people and doing brief, fun sessions in the evenings, that I’ve decided to offer Mini Sessions for those of you that just want a few pictures and not the “full meal deal” a regular session entails.

The Earth Mini Session will involve your dog running around on dry ground. This is for dogs that love to sniff, fetch and leap through the grasses.  The Water Mini Session will involve spending time in the river.  This is for dogs that love to swim, splash and get dirty.  And last but not least, the Sky Mini Sessions will be a session filled with silhouette photos similar to Tammy and Taylor’s that you saw in yesterdays post.

Check out the Mini Session page for more information.

I met Tammy and Taylor for a brief mini session the other night to get some fun silhouette photos.  I think it is safe to say we all had a lot of fun and we got some great pictures.  Tammy brought along her camera as well and after a super brief lesson on how to take silhouettes we switched places and she took some amazing ones too!

Mr. Quark was convinced one of us was on the wrong side of the fence.

Amy wasn’t the only one who had fun with the Red Ball.  Duke also loves these kinds of toys, although he obviously has a slightly larger mouth as he could pick it up and carry it around.

This ball has been sitting ignored for ages.  Months in fact.  But yesterday I gave it one little throw, and Amy was hooked.  Video would have been way better than photos because she had quite the entertaining vocal noises, but I was holding a camera and not a video camera so you’ll have to be satisfied with pictures.  I think she was very frustrated that she couldn’t pick it up.  LOL

In the afternoon, on sunny days, if we open the door in the smaller area, the light comes in and lights up a tiny patch inside.  The dogs seem to love to stand there and soak up the sun.
