Winter Changes

August 26, 2011

Last winter we were very busy.  So busy, many of you who called to get in with just a few days notice couldn’t get a spot.  In the winters we usually recommend people pick a regular schedule for their dog – i.e. come every Monday, or every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, etc and we are still recommending this. With a regular spot, your dog is booked in and you never need to worry about us not having space.  But we realize that doesn’t work for everyone as not everyone’s work/life schedule is consistent.

So this winter, as soon as we start to become full on a regular basis, we are going to stop accepting new clients.  We’ll put them on a waiting list and if we start to consistently have days when there are openings, we’ll contact the people on the waiting list and see if they are still interested in coming.  It isn’t ideal, but it is the best we’ve been able to come up with.

So if you have a friend who has been meaning to bring their dog, but haven’t quite gotten around to it yet, tell them to hurry up and come before they can’t!  And if you want your dog booked in for a regular day or days this fall and winter, please let us know as soon as possible before all the spots are full.

You should have received an email about this as well.  If you didn’t please let us know and we’ll make sure you are added to our mailing list!  You can email us at info@paws-on-the-run.ca.

The Elusive Cooper

August 24, 2011

Ironically I was just talking to Carla (Monty’s (another black standard poodle) mom) about how hard it is to get a good picture of a black poodle.  Their puffy top knot often casts their eyes into shadow, and I think it is nice to see at least see the shine of their eyes as otherwise their faces tend to look like a black blob.  We’ve been trying for a while to get a good picture of Cooper for the board and the stars finally aligned for us yesterday.

Two Peas in a Pod

August 23, 2011

While not the best photos, these two of Jackson (black lab) and Amy (chocolate lab) cracked me up.  It is like they synchronized a routine or something.

Almost Too Hot

August 23, 2011

It was almost too hot to run yesterday, but a few dogs still put in the effort.  Cody for example, couldn’t resist.

And neither could Fin.  She was pretty excited to see me crouched down and came running to give me a kiss.  :)

Lexi couldn’t resist chasing butterflies.

And Chinook couldn’t resist chasing the ball, but she only ran to get it, not to bring it back.  :)

Ben too would chase after a toy, but then saunter back at a snail’s pace.  I couldn’t blame them… it was hot out there.

Holly was constantly standing in the shade, but keeping an eye on the action.  Smart girl.

None of us lasted outside for very long at a time.  Thankfully it is cooler inside so the dogs still got a good play in.

We’ve had quite a few new dogs this summer, but I thought I’d share with you all the three newest visitors. These three are all from the same family, but couldn’t be more different than one another. Each have a distinct personality. At daycare we are very luck to get to know all the different dogs, and as they settle into the routine and find friends you really see the personalities of each dog.

storm 682x1024 The Same, but very different. This beauty is Storm. She is the trouble maker in the family, and is always into mischief….it’s a good thing she’s so cute.

simba 682x1024 The Same, but very different. And this handsome fella is Simba. We call him the Ladies Man. icon smile The Same, but very different. All the girls love him, and it’s a pretty mutual feeling I think.

mya 682x1024 The Same, but very different. Mya is the princess in the family. Preferring to sit back and watch the action rather than take the chance and get her beautiful hair dirty. :) She much prefers the well deserved attention from people and is always up for a cuddle. icon smile The Same, but very different.

The Lines Are Open

August 5, 2011

I had noticed that when we moved the blog to this new, nicer, slicker location everyone stopped commenting.  And I mean everyone.  There was deafening silence.

At first I wondered if we had lost most of our readers in the move.  And then I wondered if people just weren’t really enjoying the blog much anymore.  And then I kind of got used to it, so I stopped thinking about it.

Last night I got an email from a past client who tried to comment on the blog and she told me you needed to log in to do so.  Because she couldn’t log in, she couldn’t comment.  So I went and scoured through all the settings and I found the little ticked box that stated people needed to have an account to comment.  This was obviously a blog default that I had never even thought to change.

So is that why everyone has been so quiet lately?  I hope so!  You guys need to tell us these things! We never try and comment on our own blog so we had no idea.

The lines are now open so comment to your heart’s content…. or not.  It is up to you.

Thanks Dianne for pointing the glitch out to us.

Is there anything else none of you are telling us?  :)

Look-A-Likes

July 28, 2011

We have lots of dogs at daycare that look a like, but none are more similar than the poodles. Specifically, the black standard poodles. It’s not too bad when one is recently groomed, and the other two aren’t. Or, if they all come on different days. But sometimes they all show up on the same day….and that can get a little confusing…

Thankfully up close they do look different, and we rely on different coloured collars to help identify who is who from afar. icon smile Look A Likes

Finn is a Bull Terrier. For those that don’t know, Bull Terriers are known as the clowns of the dog world. Finn is no exception. He just does the funniest things. I took him out by himself to get a photo for our “Todays Visitors” board and couldn’t help but laugh as I looked through the photos.
